Discovering a fluid leak in your car can be stressful. Is it something serious, or something that is normal? We have put together a short video to allow you to identify what fluid is leaking from your car.
  • Antifreeze can be a variety of colors from blue to red to green. Antifreeze is also known as coolant, and is found inside your radiator to keep your vehicle cool, so these leaks can result in overheating.
  • Gas is easy to identify because of the smell.
  • Oil leaks can range from yellow to black, depending on how long it has been since you last changed your oil. Oil is a necessary lubricant in your car and leaks should be checked out.
  • Brake fluid can be clear or yellow and feels oily, and if you think you're leaking brake fluid, don't drive before a professional can have a look.
  • Transmission fluid is red, thick, and oily.
  • Power steering fluid, much like oil, can be clear or black depending on cleanliness. A sign that it's leaking is if your car is hard to drive.
  • Windshield washer fluid is usually blue, thin, and watery.
  • Plain water is condensation from air conditioning, and is nothing to worry about.
